Repairing damaged roof shingles is part and parcel with taking care of your roof and your ongoing roof maintenance schedule. Here's how we take care of damaged roof shingles.
Roof shingles on an asphalt roof can be easily damaged during extreme weather conditions. When replacing damaged roof shingles on you roof you can either replace the entire broken piece, or you can attempt to mend and repair the damaged tile.
Here are some of our tips for repairing those pesky damaged shingles:
1. Insert a knife under the damaged shingle in order to break the seal that is currently holding it in place.
2. Cut off the damaged part of the shingle with a pocket knife or specialist knife
3. Slip the new piece into place and secure it under the shingle with 7/8" roofing nails for a secure and long lasting fit.
4. Once the damaged shingle has been replaced, it's important to lift the tab on the tile and apple a small dab of roofing plaster or cement in order to seal the new shingle into place.
